Accessibility Statement

Our commitment
Story Creator is made for families, parents and educators, and we want everyone to be able to use it, including people with disabilities. We see accessibility as an ongoing part of our work, not a one-time task.
The standard we are working toward
We are working to make the site meet Israeli Standard IS 5568, which is based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 at level AA, as required by the Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013. The site has not yet had a full accessibility audit, so we cannot say that it fully meets the standard. Below is what is already in place and what we know still needs work.
What is already in place
These accessibility features are on the site today:
- The site is available in Hebrew and English. Every page declares its language and reading direction (right to left in Hebrew), so screen readers read it in the right language.
- Buttons, menus, dialogs and form fields are built on standard components that also work with a keyboard.
- A clear outline shows which element has keyboard focus.
- Buttons that show only an icon have a text label for screen readers.
- In the story reader, the story text is real text (not part of the picture), and you can turn pages with the arrow keys.
- The reader has a Listen option that reads the story aloud: with recorded narration when the story has it, and otherwise with your browser's built-in voice.
- Hebrew stories can be shown with nikud (vowel marks), which makes them easier to read.
- If your device is set to reduce motion, the site turns off or shortens its animations, including the page-turn animation in the reader.
- Light and dark display modes, which follow your device setting or can be switched by hand.
- The site does not block browser zoom, and text and layout adapt to the screen size.
- The main text colours were chosen to stand out clearly from the background, in both light and dark mode.
Known limitations
We know about these gaps and are working on them:
- Story illustrations are made by AI. Their text alternative gives the story title and page number, but does not describe what the picture shows. The story text next to each illustration can be read in full.
- Books exported as PDF files, and the print files of printed books, are not tagged for screen readers. The print proof preview before ordering also shows the pages as images. The full story text is available in the story reader on the site.
- Signing in with Google and the payment pages are run by outside providers, and their accessibility is not under our control.
- Not every page has been tested with screen readers, and parts of the site may still have problems we have not found yet.
If any part of the site gets in your way, contact us (details below). We will help you finish what you were trying to do, for example by sending you the story text or by handling a printed-book order with you by email.
Physical service
Story Creator is an online service. It has no office or service point open to the public. Printed books are produced and delivered by a printing supplier, by mail or to pickup points.
